Three Questions

Next Wednesday April 27, 2016, is National Tell a Story Day. Here are three questions you can ask your friends that I guarantee will yield stories you never heard before.

Question Number one: How did you get your first name? Why did your parents name you what they named you?

Question number two: What’s something most people don’t know about you? Just some odd quirky little thing, nothing embarrassing.

Question number three: What’s your shameless Bragg? What do you do great? It can be for lover for money. That’s the hardest question to answer because were all taught to be so humble. This is your chance to toot your own horn.

Here are my answers. My first name is Anthony. It’s my father’s middle name and my grandfather’s middle name. They’re both long gone so my name is invisible thread that connects me to both of them.

Something you don’t know about me ….I do not like lima beans. If I show up at your house for dinner and you serve me lima beans I will smile and choke down a few then move the rest around on my plate. I will never ask for seconds.

My shameless Bragg. Eight years ago I took an art class. I haven’t drawn since I was in fourth grade. Our instructor put an object on the table and told us to pay attention. Draw exactly what we see. I brought my drawing home and showed it to KR, my wife. She took one look at it and said, “That’s a sneaker!” For my part I was just thrilled she could tell what I’d drawn.

Have fun asking these three questions to your friends and coworkers and siblings. Happy National Tell A Story Day.  Tony Toledo, April 21, 2016
